Mutto

With his unique name, creative hair designs, and cryptic hand messages, Guy Mutton aka Mutto has a unique vocal style that is as velvet-smooth as it is rock. Described by former Australian Idol judge Mark Holden as extremely charismatic, with a 'real' emotion in his voice, Mutto easily captivates audiences with his soulful hard-hitting vocals and exciting stage presence, cementing this Gold Coast singer/songwriter as one of Australia’s most recognizable and up-and-coming performers.

Since stepping down as lead singer from his band ‘Soulframe’ in July 2007, Mutto has been hitting the studio working on new material including his first debut single ‘Wish’ anticipated for release early 2010. ‘Wish’ is a sweet, yet melancholy love ballad for broken hearts. Structurally Mutto provides listeners with a strong chorus and breakdown, cajoling the instruments and vocal layers into a triumphant, yet melancholy crescendo that pulls at the heart strings.

In 2006 Mutto auditioned for the fourth season of Australian Idol where he made the Top 12. Here he performed weekly to a national audience and came ninth in the competition, beating thousands of hopefuls in the process.

After the competition Mutto returned to Soulframe where they continued to perform and tour locally. Prior to his idol experience Mutto and the rest of the band experienced great success in 2004-2005 with their second album release Escaping Entropy. This album had collected a number of awards and nominations including winner of Gold Coast 90.9 Sea FM's 'Unsigned' Competition in 2005, awarded 1st place in the 2005 Pacific Songwriters Competition's 'Rock/Metal/Indie' category, winner of ‘Best Song’ in category and nominated for four additional awards including 'Artist of the Year' at Musicoz in 2004.

During Soulframe’s career Mutto has supported the likes of Evermore, Delirious, Grinspoon and MotorAce.

In 2010, Mutto is out to prove himself as a serious solo artist currently putting finishing touches on his debut EP which features the new single ‘Wish’.  Produced by local producer Matt Bartlem, mixed by J.R McNeely of Nashville and mastered by Tom Coyne of Sterling Sound in New York, Mutto describes this chapter a transitional phase of life. “I’m trying to devote myself to redefining myself as a solo artist, and becoming a better songwriter,” he says.
